What is Coffee Catch-up?

A virtual networking event for dental nurses and fellow dental care professionals for you to meet new colleagues and hear about the latest developments from the world of dentistry, the Association and our special guest speakers with free CPD for a members. The coffee catch-up has been created during the Covid-19 pandemic to offer members and non-member dental care professionals virtual way to the latest information from the world of dentistry, the opportunity for networking and connecting with with other dental nurses across the United Kingdom, and chat with our BADN President, the members of the BADN Executive Committee, and the staff. We also host special guest speakers who deliver valuable insights regarding a specific topic each month with the aim of helping attendees learn and expand their knowledge.

Artur Szelwach is the founder of ProClaves Services Ltd, a UK-based company supporting dental, beauty, podiatry, piercing, tattoo, PMU and clinical-style professionals with professional sterilisation solutions, ENBIO autoclave support, servicing, compliance guidance and practical education.

Through Safe Place with ProClaves, Artur delivers specialist training focused on the real daily practice of decontamination, sterilisation and infection prevention. His work helps professionals understand not only how to use an autoclave, but why each stage of the process matters — from cleaning and disinfection to sterilisation, documentation, testing, maintenance and safe storage.

Artur’s mission is to make sterilisation easier to understand, more practical to follow, and part of a professional safety culture within clinics, salons and treatment environments.

"From Sterilisation to Safety Standard: Building a Safer Daily Practice”

Synopsis

This session explores the importance of effective decontamination, correct sterilisation practice and daily safety routines in dental and clinical-style working environments. It will explain the difference between cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation, why disinfection alone is not always enough to create a safe clinical environment, and how correct autoclave use, testing, documentation, maintenance and safe storage support patient safety, compliance and professional standards.

Objectives

  1. Understand the difference between cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation.
  2. Recognise why disinfection alone is not always enough to create a safe clinical environment.
  3. Understand the importance of correct autoclave use, testing, documentation and maintenance.
  4. Identify common daily mistakes that may affect sterilisation quality and patient safety.
  5. Understand how a clear sterilisation process supports compliance, professionalism and trust.

Aims

  • To help dental nurses and dental care professionals understand the importance of effective decontamination, correct sterilisation practice and daily safety routines in a professional working environment.
  • To improve understanding of the decontamination chain: cleaning, disinfection, sterilisation and safe storage.
  • To support safer daily practice through correct autoclave use, testing, documentation, maintenance and professional safety routines.

Developments Outcomes

  • This presentation meets the GDC's development outcomes: B, C and D.

CPD information

Members attend free of charge and receive a CPD certificate (subject to meeting attendance criteria). Non-members - £5 participation fee is required to attend. This includes administration for issuing the CPD certificate.  CPD certificate requires attendee to be present on camera for the full presentation.

 

How much does it cost?

Our Coffee Catch-up sessions are FREE to attend. We welcome all dental nurses, BADN members and non-members, as well as other dental care professionals to join our sessions. Please note spaces are limited so be sure to book early.

What happens after I register?

Once registered a confirmation email will be sent to you within 24 hours. An Invitation Zoom Link along with any other relevant information will be sent to all attendees via email a day before the event. Please also check your spam/junk folder when looking out for any communications.
