Sally Khawaja

MA, BSc Hons, Cert Ed, Dip Ed, L5Coaching, RDN

Sally qualified as a dental nurse at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, she went on to gain experience working in a wide variety of clinical settings, including special care dentistry and dental psychology at King’s College Hospital . She has held a range of roles including specialist dental nurse and clinical assistant manager. Sally had a keen interesting in education and moved into delivering, managing, internally and externally quality assuring dental care professional training and qualifications. She has worked closely with a range of awarding organisations and regulatory bodies and led a team of educators to deliver dental education to a high standard. Sally was keen to lead her team with compassion and developed skills and qualifications in leadership, coaching and mentoring.

Away from the dentistry Sally has undertaken roles including Chair of Governors for a large secondary school in Essex, and committee member for the Children’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee with Thurrock Council. Sally currently holds positions including, Co-Chair of the Kings Able staff network for staff at King’s College Hospital with disabilities and long-term impairments and the role of Honorary Secretary for the Education Zone at the Orsett Country show.

In 2024, Sally moved into the role of Freedom to Speak Up Guardian at King’s College Hospital. Sally is keen to embed a culture of Speaking Up and civility across healthcare and passionately supports individuals and teams to speak up and leaders to listen up.

Aim

Making Speaking Up business as usual.

Objectives

  • Identify key individuals / organisations in your professional environment you can raise a concern with.
  • Identify barriers to raising concerns.
  • Create an environment to support individuals to speak up and listen up.

Outcomes

Creating a culture where raising and addressing concerns is normalised by identifying key contacts, understanding barriers, and fostering a supportive and responsive environment.

  • This CPD course meets the criteria for the GDC’s development outcomes A,B,D.

CPD information

Members and non-members are invited. Members attend for free and receive a CPD certificate at no charge. Non-members can attend for free – and, if they require their CPD certificate,  choose to  pay a £3.50 administration fee.  CPD certificate requires attendee to be present on camera for the full presentation.

 

A virtual networking event for dental nurses and fellow dental care professionals for you to meet new colleagues and hear about the latest developments from the world of dentistry, the Association and our special guest speakers with free CPD (members only).

What is Coffee Catch-up?

The coffee catch-up has been created during the Covid-19 pandemic to offer members and non-member dental care professionals virtual way to the latest information from the world of dentistry, the opportunity for networking and connecting with with other dental nurses across the United Kingdom, and chat with our BADN President, the members of the BADN Executive Committee, and the staff. We also host special guest speakers who deliver valuable insights regarding a specific topic each month with the aim of helping attendees learn and expand their knowledge. Some sessions also offer FREE CPD certificates.

We also sometimes host special quiz games where you have a chance to win some prizes. The quizes are related to the speakers presentation to test your knowledge on the subject. If there is a quiz game scheduled for the speakers presentation, we will either include this information below or let you know in an e-mail upon registering, including all the necessary details prior to the event on how to take part.

How much does it cost?

Members and Non-members are invited to attend. Members attend for FREE and receive a CPD certificate at no charge.

Non-members can attend the event at no charge; however, an administration fee of £3.50 will be required to obtain a CPD certificate, applicable only to non-members.

What happens after I register?

Once registered a confirmation email will be sent to you within 24 hours. An Invitation Zoom Link along with any other relevant information will be sent to all attendees via email a day before the event. Please also check your spam/junk folder when looking out for any communications.
