Vicky Adam – North East

Vicky Adam works as a dental nurse and clinical governance coordinator four days a week in an NHS practice in Newcastle and one day as a DCP facilitator for Health Education North East leading on extended duty dental nursing.
She began dental nursing in 1988 passing the national examination in 1991. Vicky then went on to gain post qualifications in radiography and her NVQ in reception skills. In 2009 and 2010 Vicky completed her extended duties in fluoride varnish application and impression taking.
In 2011 Vicky joined together with a group of local dental professionals to fundraise for a charity trip to Nepal. Together they raised £30,000 and sucessfully completed a two week trip to Nepal travelling to remote areas around running dental camps. On their return Vicky was involved in setting up their registered charity Smiles Across Nepal to promote oral health throughout Nepal.
Vicky is passionate about dental nursing as a career and her main interests in dentistry are oral health promotion and preventative dentistry. She is about to start a post qualification in oral health education in February 2014 and is a member of the National Oral Health Promotion Group.
Outside of dentistry Vicky has been married for 22 years has one daughter and has just recently become a grandmother. Her life long love is Newcastle United Football Club, having been a season ticket holder for over 20 years, followed closely by Strictly Come Dancing of which she is a self confessed super fan.
