Exciting Opportunities for Modern Dental Nurses

The Dentistry Show 2017

Delivering two days of education, inspiration and fun specifically tailored for dental nurses, The Dentistry Show 2017 is set to be another great event.  The two-day Dental Nurses Forum will be chaired by the British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) this year, who commented:

“BADN are delighted to once again be chairing the Dental Nurse Forum at The Dentistry Show, where dental nurses can network, get information on services and products, attend the Dental Nurse Forum and other CPD presentations and, of course, join BADN.  President Jane Dalgarno will be chairing the Forum, and presenting a session on Skill Mix Within the Dental Team; and Chief Exec Pam Swain and Membership Administrator Shirley Lyons will be at the BADN stand. Come along to stand N42 to join, re-join, ask questions or just have a chat!”

In addition to Jane, the speaker line-up will include various renowned professionals from the UK and abroad, including Carole Boyle, Deborah Lyle and Jason Wong.

Challenges and Opportunities

Jason Wong will be among the esteemed speakers presenting in the Dental Nurses Forum at The Dentistry Show 2017.  “The Dentistry Show provides a good opportunity to demonstrate the changing landscape of oral health care provision,” he says. “I have attended the show on many occasions and always found there to be a diverse range of topics covered and a strong team-focused theme. It is also an excellent opportunity for networking.”

About his lecture, entitled “Oral health for the ageing population and the relevance of skill mix with a strong focus on dental nurses”, Jason comments:  “Oral health care for the ageing population presents an opportunity for dental nurses to take part in the dental practice setting and in the community.  During my lecture, I will review the common challenges and opportunities available to dental nurses when caring for an ageing population. I will also discuss what preventative steps can be taken for the older demographic and how these are impacted by conditions such as dementia and other mental health issues.”

Carole A Boyle – Consultant in Special Care Dentistry in the Department of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry at King’s College London Dental Institute – will also  be speaking in the Dental Nurses Forum at The Dentistry Show 2017.  About her session entitled “Conscious sedation: we need you”, she comments “The dental nurse plays an important role when providing conscious sedation, particularly as patients tend to be very anxious about treatment. It’s crucial for them to be confident in their skills in order to reassure the patient and help put their mind at ease. It’s also necessary for dental nurses to be clinically competent as this ensures the dentist receives the best support and assistance during treatment.

“I hope dental nurses will leave my lecture with a better understanding of their role during conscious sedation. I think this a great area for dental nurses to advance their skills in – it requires a better understanding of how to support anxious patients, as well as increased knowledge regarding the possible medical conditions that patients requiring special care dentistry might have.”

Aside from the Dental Nurses Forum, delegates will have unlimited access to additional educational features such as the Core CPD Theatre, PerioLounge, Facial Aesthetics Theatre and Compliance Clinic. Hours of verifiable and general CPD will be available for all, with the added bonus of copious networking opportunities across the two days.

Further still, the trade floor is expected to host more than 400 dental manufacturers and suppliers, providing the perfect platform from which to discover the latest oral health products, services and technologies. Live demonstrations, on-stand learning and fantastic deals will also be available, and attendance is completely free of charge for all delegates!

To make sure you don’t miss out, register for your free delegate pass online today.
