City & Guilds Licentiate

In order to be eligible for the Licentiate, dental nurses must hold the NEBDN National Certificate (in Dental Nursing or Dental Surgery Assisting), OR the S/NVQ Level 3: Oral Healthcare, OR a Dental Hospital Certificate of Proficiency.

2. Applicants must then hold EITHER the NEBDN Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing OR in Conscious Sedation OR in Oral Health Education OR in Special Care Nursing OR one of the below:

I. A City & guilds certificate for Work Study, Quality Control, Organisational Studies, Direct Training, Further Education Teachers, In-service Courses for Teachers, or Achievement Testing.

II. A relevant NEBS/ILM management certificate

III. The BTEC Certificate in Management Studies

IV. A relevant BTEC or SCOTVEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma

V. An appropriate grade of membership of a relevant professional body or institution

VI. An appropriate degree

VII. TDLB Trainer/Assessor and Internal Verifier Component units (A1/ V1) or D units

(If you are over the age of 26 and you do not hold any of the qualifications listed above, you may still meet the career extension requirement if you have:

either

Completed a period of five years in a managerial or supervisory position and can provide confirmation certified by your employer(s) of satisfactory performance and experience

or

If you can provide evidence of the satisfactory completion of a range of short training/education courses which you have successfully applied in your work.)

in order to fulfill the career extension requirement;

3. Applicants must also have five years’ appropriate employment and possession of documentary evidence acceptable to City & Guilds of a programme of training, in order to fulfill the industrial achievement requirement.
