SEPSIS – DO YOU KNOW THE SIGNS?
Sepsis is a potentially life-threatening condition previously known as blood-poisoning and septicemia. It is an overreaction to an infection in which the body attacks its own tissues and organs. Sepsis claims 44,000 lives in the UK and affects more than 250,000 people every year, but can be treated effectively with antibiotics and other therapies if caught promptly.
Melissa Mead from the Sepsis Trust will be speaking at the NDNC in Blackpool in November and there will be an article written by Melissa in the Summer BDNJ. In the meantime, download the Sepsis Trust’s symptom cards.
